The Social Investment and Philanthropy Chair at INCAE
In 2013 the Strachan Foundation with support from a great group of Bain friends funded an endowed Chair for Social Investment and Philanthropy at INCAE, which is called the “Catedra Strachan” with grants of $1.4 million.
According to INCAE “The Strachan Chair aims to inspire responsible leadership in the Central American business sector. To accomplish this mission, we design and produce learning experiences and materials such as teaching cases, live cases, and technical notes on philanthropy and social investment. In addition, we lead and sponsor INCAE MBA students so they can do their Management Consulting Projects in Central American civil society organizations (CSOs). The goal is for these students to apply their management skills to help strengthen the operation of these organizations and experience working in organizations that seek to have a social impact. The Chair also has its own podcast, Gerente de Impacto, in which managers from the region share their experience and lessons learned on how to make social investments.”
Professor Luis Sanz filled the chair until his untimely death in 2015. Professor Andrea Prado has filled it since 2016.
